Appointments
If you would like to book an appointment, please call us on 01227 720284 or email enquiries@winghamdental.co.uk
Your first visit
A private initial consultation costs £85.00, including two small x-rays. We will either give you or send you a medical history form to complete and bring with you to your first appointment. Patients under the age of 16 will need to attend with a parent/guardian. Please bring proof of exemption with you if you are to receive free NHS treatment.
At your first appointment we will carry out a comprehensive examination of your mouth, teeth and gums and take any radiographs (x-rays) necessary to determine dental health. If you require any treatment, this would not normally be carried out at this first visit other than placing a temporary dressing, for example. Treatment options are fully discussed and a written treatment plan clearly setting out our charges will be given to you.
If you require a new patient medical history form you can download and print one.
Dental Emergencies
If you are a registered patient and require emergency dental treatment and can wait until the surgery reopens, please ring the practice early, preferably by 10am, and we will try to fit you in as soon as possible.
We are also happy to see patients who do not wish to register at the practice, but only wish to see us with a dental emergency – if they are visiting the area, for example. Permanent treatment will not normally be possible at this appointment, but in these cases we would endeavour to provide temporary treatment to relieve the problem.
Cancellation & missed appointments
There is absolutely no charge if appointments are cancelled with more than 2 working days’ notice. Giving us plenty of notice allows us to offer the appointments to others, so please do try to let us know as soon as possible if you cannot make an appointment.
If an appointment is cancelled without 2 working days’ notice or your appointment is missed, then we will normally make a missed appointment charge of £16.00 per 10 minutes, based on the length of your appointment. This is because we still need to cover our practice overhead expenses. This fee will normally need to be paid before another appointment can be made.
